What is ACX plywood.
Acx exterior grade plywood. This 14 x 4 x 8 Premium ACX Plywood is suitable for use as underlayment. There are many types of exterior plywood to choose from the most common being CDX or ACX. The name ACX refers to the grade of glue and wood used in its construction. They havent been repaired and the flaws can be a little larger and more noticeable. This is the part of the veneer that should be shown or at the very least is the part of the plywood that should be facing outward.
The C in the name of this plywood. The higher grade panels are sanded on both sides and are sometimes referred to as Sanded Plywood or Sanded Panels. Finally the X is used to describe the exterior and designates the waterproof adhesive used in the construction of the plywood itself.
ACX is a designation given to a traditional wood exterior plywood panel with one sanded face and one rough face. From exterior wall sheathing to boat construction ACX plywood has many applications. It may have some neatly made manufacturer repairs but you should find it to be free of major repairs and knots.
ACX has A grade front side and C is the grade for the other side CDX has a bit rougher C and D plies. This grade of plywood can feature knots up to 25 inches. A popular exterior grade plywood is ACX plywood.
